VISENDUM® accredits recognized environmental certifications
PEFC Certificate
PEFC is the most widely implemented forest certification system in the world. PEFC’s goal is to ensure that the world’s forests are managed responsibly, and that their multitude of functions are protected for present and future generations. Products of forest origin (wood, paper, cork, mushrooms, resins, essences…) certified by PEFC guarantee consumers that they are buying products from sustainably managed forests.
VISENDUM® uses recycled pine wood shavings with PEFC certificate, so the material ensures the origin of the recycled raw material from responsibly managed forests with the obtaining of the PEFC/10-10-31-2220 certificate obtained on 09/06/2010.
A+ emissions certificate
The VISENDUM® Engineered Wood sample has been obtained under the criteria of the ISO 16000-9 method, for 28 days in an emissions test chamber under constant conditions of temperature, relative humidity and specific air flow per unit surface.
Air samples taken from the chamber after 28 days under the conditions dictated in the ISO16000-6 method for VOC analysis and according to ISO 16000-3 for aldehydes.
The emission classes have been determined according to the following classification table, obtaining the A+ certification
Life cycle analysis
The Life Cycle Analysis is carried out under the ISO 14040-44 standard encompassing the entire process of production and obtaining raw materials. This assessment is based on a quantified inventory of the impacts produced by the consumption of raw material, water and energy, and generation of waste and polluting residues in water, air or soil in the complete life cycle of the material.
The objective of the life cycle analysis is to quantify the impact for a given material functional unit, in this case it will be carried out on 1m2 of VISENDUM® flooring during the 25 years of useful life in guarantee of the material.
Producing 1m2 of material involves 1118 MJ of energy and 8.4 KG of CO2 emission (0.33kg of CO2 for each Kg of material produced). In this way we can conclude that VISENDUM® has a very low impact on the greenhouse effect.
Internacional standard ISO14001
VISENDUM® accredits the international environmental management standard ISO14001, by which it is recognized that VISENDUM ® :
- Establishes an appropriate environmental policy.
- Identifies environmental aspects arising from the organization’s past, existing, or planned activities, products, and services, and determines significant environmental impacts.
- Identifies the applicable legal requirements and other subscribed requirements.
- Identifies priorities and sets appropriate environmental goals and objectives.
- Establishes a structure and one or more programs to implement the policy and achieve the objectives and goals.
- It facilitates planning, control, monitoring, corrective and preventive actions, audit and review activities, to ensure that the policy is adhered to and that the environmental management system remains appropriate.
- It has the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and to identify environmental aspects, including those associated with operation under normal conditions, abnormal conditions including start and stop, and emergency situations and accidents.

Environmental Product Statement
An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) is an internationally recognised publication on the environmental impact of products, based on their life cycle assessment (LCA).
The objective of an EPD is to show transparency, making known the composition of the chosen product and its environmental impact.
VISENDUM® has obtained the EPD prepared in accordance with ISO 14025:2011-10 and EN 15804:2012-04+A1 2013.
LEED®, BREEAM® and VERDE® certificate
LEED®
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) is an international assessment and standard system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council in the late ’90s in the U.S. Uu uu to promote the development of buildings based on sustainable criteria and high efficiency. LEED® is characterized by providing an assessment of the sustainability of the building assessing its impact in 5 main areas: sustainable location, protection and efficiency of water, energy efficiency and renewable energies, conservation of materials and natural resources and quality of the interior environment. LEED® is a system flexible enough to be applied to any type of building.
BREEAM®
Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM®) is a sustainability assessment system in construction projects developed by the BRE (Building Research Establishment) in the early 90s in the UK based on which are dosed according to 9 categories as follows: management, health and well-being, energy, transport, materials, waste, water, land use and ecology, and pollution. A peculiarity of the method is that to carry out the certification process, the use of BRE-accredited advisors is an essential requirement.
VERDE®
VERDE® is a methodology for the environmental assessment and certification of buildings developed by the GBC Spain Association. The evaluation system is based on a performance method in accordance with the philosophy of the Technical Building Code and the European Directives. At the base are the principles of bio-architecture and the construction of the building respecting the environment, compatible with the environment and with high levels of comfort and quality of life for users.
The evaluation criteria are grouped into different thematic areas: site selection, site project and planning, quality of the interior space, energy and atmosphere, quality of service, natural resources and socio-economic impact.
VISENDUM® contributes to the environmental certificates: LEED®: MRC 2,4,5 and 7, BREEAM®: MAT 5, SyB 9, RSD 3 and GREEN®: D02 and 06, B02, C17.
